Hon. Mayra Flores embodies the American Dream. Born in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, she came to the United States at just six years old with her father, who gave their family the greatest gift of all: the chance to become proud, naturalized American citizens.
Raised in a family of migrant workers, Mayra grew up in the cotton fields of the Rio Grande Valley, working alongside her parents to earn money for school clothes and supplies. Those long days under the Texas sun forged her relentless work ethic, her deep faith, and her unshakable belief that in America, anything is possible with hard work and determination.
Mayra graduated from high school in San Benito and went on to become a Respiratory Care Practitioner, later earning a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership. She dedicated years to caring for children and seniors with chronic respiratory conditions, proving her commitment to service through action — not words.
